Camille Dubourg, founder of Bordeaux Bombay, tells us about her journey and experience in art and decoration.
With degrees in law and art history, I began my career in Paris working for auction houses and art galleries. I then joined photographer Gérard Rancinan to develop the art department. In 2018, I traveled to India for the first time, a pivotal trip that led to the creation of Bordeaux Bombay.
Fascinated by what India offers in terms of decorative arts and by the unique know-how of Indian artisans, I wanted to offer a line of decoration composed of antique and authentic but affordable pieces.
The name Bordeaux Bombay is inspired by the city I come from and live in, and the first Indian city I visited, which was a revelation for me.
Since my first trip to India, I have established lasting relationships with Indian antique dealers whom I visit regularly to source pieces from all over India. I pay close attention to the condition of the pieces I acquire, to the details...
Each year, I receive between two hundred and three hundred pieces intended mainly for my professional clients.
